I’ve always loved the hustle and bustle of a big city and I’d consider myself to 100% be a city person, but as I’ve gotten older I’ve really grown to appreciate nature, peace, and quiet. The hustle and bustle of downtown Austin is hard to beat, but let’s face it… Like most big cities it can be a little stressful! Certain areas and hotspots can get pretty crowded and parking tends to be an issue. But what if I told you that if you’re like me and need a little balance in your life, I know a place where you can get the best of both worlds? That place is Sonesta Bee Cave Austin.

This serene hotel is located in the beautiful Texas Hill Country and complete with scenic views, great food, and onsite parking. It’s probably one of the most quiet hotels I’ve ever stayed at without being in the middle of nowhere. Plus the rooms are comfortable and spacious and the internet connection was top notch. Additionally, the Hill Country Galleria is nearby so restaurants and shopping are readily available (the hotel even has a free shuttle that will take you back and forth) but if you’re wanting to head to downtown Austin it’s only a short 15-20 minute drive.

There are also a variety of wineries and breweries in the area to check out and explore (I visited El Gaucho, highly recommend) but there’s a great pool area, gym, and restaurant on property so I mostly just hung around the hotel. As you can probably tell from all of the food pictures I’ve included, Sonesta’s rooftop restaurant (Meridian 98) really impressed me. The service was excellent and the ambiance matched that of the hotel – laid back contemporary and peaceful. The views from the outdoor patio were lovely and overall it just made for a nice spot to hang out and watch the sunset.

I stayed on property for two nights, so we did dinner the first night. Everything is locally sourced which I loved and very fresh. We split a charcuterie board to start and I ordered the redfish for my main course then finished up with a skillet cookie topped with ice cream. During the rest of our stay, we enjoyed the breakfast buffet in the morning which had lots of options as well as the option of eggs-to-order.

Needless to say, when it came time to check out I was sad to leave! Whether you’re traveling to the Austin area for business, on a leisurely tip to the Texas Hill Country, or simply looking for a relaxing, casual weekend getaway Sonesta is the place to be. Who says you can’t have the best of both worlds?
