Recently I became a stylist/rep for Perfectly Taylored Collection (PTC), a tee shirt line for women created by LSU fashion design student and fellow fashion blogger, Peyton Simms. What drew me to PTC, other than working with a fellow design student, is its balance between comfort and chic. This is a balance that I feel like can be hard to find, and is one that is very evident in my own personal style. Here’s a little more about PTC and a mini-interview with Peyton:

“Perfectly Taylored Collection embodies a balance between comfort and chic. Designer, Peyton Taylor, set out to create a line that women would enjoy wearing, but that also would make them feel and look fashionable. Each shirt is designed with a love for champagne, haute couture, and the streets of New Orleans.”

RS: What does fashion mean to you?
PS: Fashion has always been a means of self-expression and creativity for me. I have always associated happy things with fashion.
RS: When did you first become interested in fashion?
PS: My interest in fashion began when I was young, spending afternoons shopping with my mom and reading the editorials in magazines like Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.
RS: How would you describe your own personal style?
PS: My personal style is classic, but comfortable with stylish details. I love a simple tee with cute jeans and great accessories or shoes!
RS: What made you decide to start PTC?
PS: I decided to start PTC because I saw a gap between comfort and chic for young women, especially college students. So many things have inspired me: close friends and my younger sisters to the streets of Paris and New Orleans
RS: What has been the hardest thing about PTC so far?
PS: Balancing being a full time student and running PTC has been my biggest challenge.
RS: What has been the most fun thing about PTC so far?
PS: Designing something that I love and then seeing other people love it as well!
RS: Who are some of your favorite designers?
PS: That is such a tough one for me because I have so many. Claire Keller, the creative director of Chloe, is my absolute favorite right now. She creates such an incredible aesthetic. I love Malene Birger and the creative directors behind Rag & Bone as well.
RS: What are your favorite places to shop?
PS: I like to shop locally at Edit by LBP. When I can’t shop there I love Bergdorfs, Shopbop, and Bloomingdales.
RS: What else are you involved in besides PTC?
PS: I am currently in a sorority at Louisiana State University. I will be spending the summer in New York interning for Marie Claire.
RS: What advice do you have for other aspiring designers or business owners?
PS: My best advice would be to pay attention to the details and walk before you can run. Believe in yourself and stay true to who you are, everyone is going to want you to go different ways – remember why you started daily and stick to that.
RS: Where do you see yourself in the future?
PS: I hope to continue building PTC in either New York or New Orleans.
