Let’s talk about one of my favorite colors: burgundy. Also known as oxblood, maroon, or wine. I love them all! I know, I know… Wrong school. I love my burnt orange, but this berry hue is everything. I think it looks good on just about every skin tone and it’s the perfect accent for any outfit. I love this color for lipstick, handbags, shoes—you get the picture.
As I have mentioned about a thousand times before, I am a huge fan of Topshop jeans. They fit great and the price point is equally great (around $70 a pair). At this point I know the exact couple of styles that I wear, so I don’t even have to try them on anymore. When I saw this burgundy pair, I made a beeline to the rack, grabbed my size, and checked out all in about 10 minutes. I’m not sure if I should be proud or ashamed…
This top is also a Topshop piece that I got on sale after Christmas. Call me basic, but I really like stripes. They’re both classic and trendy so they never really go out of style, yet always look chic. I love, love, love the colors in this little striped number. The burgundy is a given, but I’m also digging the mustard yellow, the light blue, and the sparkly charcoal gray.
The burgundy in my top paired nicely with the jeans, but this look just wouldn’t be complete without the accessories. To tie in the blue in my top and for some additional warmth, I added an oversized denim shirt/jacket. I also wanted to go with some brown pieces to complement the mustard yellow. This awesome belt from Urban Outfitters was the perfect place to start because the silver belt buckle also works with the silver sparkles. From there I finished off the look with some square frame sunglasses, brown booties, and a cool fringe handbag.
